HomeMy WebLinkAbout67-60 - AB127 - Mandatory Standards for Fire Personnel - Opposing29 RESOLUTION N0. 67-6G A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COSTA MESA OPPOSING THE ADOPTION OF ASSEMBLY BILL NO. 127. WHEREAS, Assembly Bill 127 would establish statewide and mandatory minimum standards for fire service personnel; and vv1HEREAS, Standards for the physical, mental, educational and training qualifications of firemen have been and are continuing to be satisfactorily maintained on a voluntary rather than a mandatory basis throughout the State; and WHEREAS, the adoption of Assembly Bill 127 is opposed by the California Fire Chiefs' Association; and WHEREAS, this Council believes the adoption of AB127 would take the establishment of minimum standards for fire service personnel out of the hands of those most directly connected with the everyday tasks of administration and of firefighting; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Costa Mesa, that the adoption of Assembly Bill 127 be, and the same is hereby strongly opposed; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Clerk is hereby directed to transmit a certified copy of this Resolution to the Sacramento Office of the League of California Cities.
