HomeMy WebLinkAbout67-116 - Adopting County Fees for Animals and DogsIII RESOLUTION No. 67-116 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COSTA MESA ADOPTING CERTAIN FEES FOR ANIMAL AND ANIMAL CARE LICENSES PURSUANT TO CONTRACT BETWEEN THE CITY OF COSTA MESA AND THE COUNTY OF ORANGE RELATING TO POUNDMASTER SERVICES TO BE PROVIDED BY TETE COUNTY OF ORANGE. THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COSTA MESA, CALIFORNIA, DOES HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: WHEREAS, heretofore the County of Orange and the City of Costa Mesa have entered into an agreement whereby the County of Orange will provide pound and poundmaster services; and WHEREAS, the County of Orange has established certain fees to be charged to the public for said services; and WHEREAS, the contract agreement between the City of Costa Mesa and the County of Orange provides that the City will adopt, by resolution, said fee schedule; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the following fee schedule is hereby adopted and the City Council of the City of Costa Mesa hereby approves the assessment of said fees by the County where applicable within the City of Costa Mesa: Fee Schedule for Services at the Orange County Animal Shelter The following fee schedule has been adopted for services at the Orange County Animal Shelter: (a) Daily care and feed (1) Large animal $ 1.00 (horses, cows and animals of similar size) (2) Medium animal .75 (goats, sheep, pigs and animals of similar size) (3) Dogs, cats and miscellaneous smaller animals .50 (b) Rabies vaccination charge for dogs 3.00 (c) Copy of documents approved for release 1.00 (d) Placement fee (1) Dogs 5.00 (2) Cats and other animals subject to placement 2.00 (e) License fee for dogs 4.00 (Except for licensing year from January 1, 1968, through June 30, 1969, during which the license fee shall be $6.00) (Except where animal control services are undertaken for a city having a different licensing year, credit shall be allowed on a time prorata basis, to the nearest month, for fees paid to such city.) Annual dog license period will be a calendar year from January 1 through the following December 31. Beginning January 1, 1968, the licensing year will be from January 1, 1968, through June 30, 1969. Thereafter, the licensing year will be a fiscal year from July 1 through the following June 30. (f) Re -issue fee for lost dog license tag $ 1.00 (g) Impound fees (1) Impound fees for animals picked up by County 3.00 personnel (2) cats l.00 (a) Large animal (horses, cows, etc.) 10.00 Fee Schedule for Licenses Issued (b) Medium animal (goats, sheep, pigs, etc.) 5.00 1. (c) Dogs 3.00 (d) Cats 3.00 10.00 (e) Miscellaneous animals 3.00 (2) Impound fees for animals delivered to shelter from incorporated areas not contracting for County Animal 30.00 Control services, to be paid to County as follows: Cat kennel, per annum 10.00 (a) Large animal (horses, cows, etc.) 7.00 Pet shop, per annum (b) Medium animal (goats, sheep, pigs, etc.) 3.50 4. (c) Dogs 2.00 (d) Cats 1.00 (3) No impound charge shall be made for animals delivered 6. Animal rental establishment, per annum to the shelter by owners in unincorporated areas or 7. in cities contracting for Animal Control services. 10.00 (h) Veterinary care (for impounded animals) (1) Dogs, cats or other small animals, per treatment 5.00 (2) Medium or large animals, per treatment 10.00 (3) The County Director of the Division of Veterinary Public Health may charge the owner or custodian for veterinary care rendered to impounded animals. The County Director of the Division of Veterinary Public Health may approve for payment from County fluids to practicing veterinarian rendering veterinary treat- ment to impounded animals. (i) Animal release fee for approved medical research (1) Dogs 3.00 (2) cats l.00 Fee Schedule for Licenses Issued 1. Commercial dog kennel, per annum a. 4 - 9 dogs 10.00 b. 10 - 19 dogs 20.00 c. 20 or more dogs 30.00 2. Cat kennel, per annum 10.00 3. Pet shop, per annum 10.00 4. Guard and/or sentry dog service for each dog, per annum 4.00 5. Zoo, per annum 10.00 6. Animal rental establishment, per annum 10.00 7. Aiding academy, per annum 10.00 8. Livery stable or boarding stable, per annum 10.00 9. Pony ring or pony ride, per annum 10.00 10. Pet show, dog show, cat show, animal acts or exhibitions, per day 5.00 11. Privately owned wild, exotic, dangerous or nondomestic animals 5.00 316 12. Alligator farm, ostrich farm, wild animal farm, per $ 10.00 annum 13• Miscellaneous animal or reptile establishment, per annum 10.00 14. Circus, per day 100.00 15. Rodeo, per day 16.
