HomeMy WebLinkAbout67-118 - Commending Fire Departments - County Clubhouse Fire'i18 RESOLUTION N0. 67-118 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COSTA MESA, CONMiENDING THE COSTA MESA FIRE DEPARTMENT, THE HUNTINGTON BEACH FIRE DEPARTMENT AND THE FOUNTAIN VALLEY FIRE DEPARTMENT FOR THEIR SKILLED AND COMPETENT CONTROL OF THE COSTA MESA COUNTRY CLUB FIRE AND EXPRESSING APPRECIATION TO THE HUNTINGTON BEACH AND FOUNTAIN VALLEY FIRE DEPARTMENTS FOR THEIR HELP IN THE EMERGENCY. WHEREAS, a potentially disastrous fire broke out at the Costa Mesa Country Club on Wednesday, November 29, 1967, threatening the destruction of the new $323,000.00 structure; and WHEREAS, the skilled, competent and efficient work of the firemen responding to the emergency confined the fire to the roof and prevented its spread to the lower floor of the clubhouse; and WHEREAS, the Huntington Beach Fire Department came to the assistance of the Costa Mesa Fire Department with snorkel equipment and rendered valuable help in controlling the fire; and WHEREAS, the Fountain Valley Fire Department also responded to the alarm and gave needed and important assistance in the struggle to prevent the fire from spreading; and WHEREAS, the Costa Mesa Fire Department distinguished itself by quick, skilled and efficient command of the situation and deserves credit for its capable handling of what might have been a disastrous fire; and WHEREAS, the Orange County Division of Forestry trucks and crew stood by at the fire station headquarters throughout the emergency and this Council of the City of Costa Mesa appreciates the County Department's cooperation; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Costa Mesa that this Council hereby commends and expresses its appreciation to the Costa Mesa Fire Department and all firemen taking part in the containing of the Clubhouse Fire; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Huntington Beach Fire Department and the Fountain Valley Fire Department are hereby commended for their valuable assistance, and this Council deeply appreciates their response to this emergency; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk is hereby directed to enter certified copies of this resolution in the permanent records of the City and transmit certified copies thereof to the Costa Mesa Fire Department, Huntington Beach Fire Department, and the Fountain Valley Fire Department.
