RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COSTA MESA
REQUESTING THE COUNTY OF ORANGE TO INCLUDE WITHIN THE
ARTERIAL HIGHWAY FINANCING PROGRAM THE DEVELOPMENT OF
ARLINGTON DRIVE.
WHEREAS, the City of Costa Mesa desires to improve Arlington Drive
from Fairview Road to Newport Boulevard; and
WHEREAS, Arlington Drive is an important artery in the County of
Orange and of general County interest; and
WHEREAS, Article 2 and Article 3, Chapter 9, Division 2 of the Streets
and Highways Code authorizes a County, if it so desires, to expend funds
apportioned to it out of the California Highway Users Tax Fund for aid to
any City in the improvement, construction or repair of a street within a
City; and
WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors intends to, by appropriate action,
provide in the County budget of the Special Road Improvement Fund for the
Fiscal Year 1968-69 a sum of money for the improvement of streets within
the incorporated cities of the County in accordance with the Orange County
Arterial Highway Financing Program;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Costa
Mesa hereby requests the Board of Supervisors of the County of Orange to
allocate to said City from County Fords the amount of $37,000.00, said
amount to be matched by funds from said City, to be used to aid said City
in the improvement of Arlington Drive from Fairview Road to Newport Boulevard,
and for the acquisition of necessary rights of way; said improvements and
acquisition of rights of way to be in accordance with the attached project
statement; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Board of Supervisors of the County of
Orange is hereby requested to find that said work and acquisition of rights
of way on Arlington Drive, in the manner provided, is in the general County
interest; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that, by this Resolution, the City of Costa
Mesa agrees with the basic concepts of the Arterial Highway Financing Program;
and further agrees that its share of the cost of improvements and rights of
way will be available for the fiscal year 1968-69.
