HomeMy WebLinkAbout68-52 - Protesting Post Office Service ReductionRESOLUTION Io. 68-;2 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COSTA MESA, CALIFORNIA, PROTESTING THE PROPOSED REDUCTION IN POST OFFICE SERVICES ON SATURDAYS. WHEREAS, this Council has been informed that it is the intent of the Post Office Department at Washington zo order reduction in Post Office counter and delivery services on Saturdays; and WHEREAS, expansion and improvement of the Postal Service, rather than redaction, is a necessity if the service is to keep pace wi �h the growth of Costa Mesa, both in increasing volume of mail and growing population; and WHEREP.S, reduction in the services on Saturdays would cause serious inconvenience to residents; and WHEREAS, this Council deems it to be in the best interest o_' both the Post Office Department and the City of Costs. Mesa that postal services be maintained; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COSTA MESA, that the Post Office Department be, and the same is here', urged to maintain full postal services on Saturdays in the interest of economic expan- sion; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Clerk is hereby directed to trans- mit certified copies of this resolution to ahe Postmaster General and the City's representatives in Congress.
