A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COSTA MESA
URGING PUBLIC CONSIDERATION OF TRE BOND ISSUE AND TAX OVER-
RIDE CONVERSION OF ORANGE COAST COLLEGE ON SEPTEMBER 17, 1968.
WHEREAS, in order that Orange Coast College may be able to maintain its
present high caliber of education and offer adequate facilities with which to
provide this education, in the face of an expanding student population and
increasing costs, certain financial changes must take place; and
WHEREAS, a Citizens Committee representing geographic locations through-
out the college district, and composed of persons of several professions, includ-
ing the different fields of finance, has participated in a thorough study over
a number of months, and makes the following recommendations:
1. That an already existing lOz cents over -ride tax for building purposes
be converted for use in general operations.
2. That a seven and one-quarter million bond issue be passed for the pur-
pose of obtaining matching fluids in order to meet the building needs
of the District for a four-year period.

WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Costa Mesa wishes to maintain
its long standing policy of non-interference in school board decisions, and at
the same time desires to fulfill the Council's community leadership responsi-
bility, once those decisions are made;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Costa
Mesa, that the Citizens Committee is hereby commended for its interest, time
and effort spent on an important community problem; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that each and every eligible voter should give
deep and earnest consideration to both requests of the Board of Directors of
the Orange Coast Junior College District on Tuesday, September 17th, 1968; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a copy of this Resolution be mailed on
September 4, 1968, to each City Council within the Orange Coast College District.
PASSED AND ADOPTED, this 3rd day of September, 1968.
