RESOLUTION N0. 68-69
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COSTA MESA
PAYING TRIBUTE TO THE MEMORY OF JOSEPH A. BEEK OF BALBOA
ISLAND, SECRETARY TO THE CALIFORNIA STATE SENATE SINCE 1919.
WHEREAS, The City of Costa Mesa bas lost a good and true friend for many
years, and a highly respected leader throughout the entire Harbor Area, in the
C death of Joseph A. Beek; and
WHEREAS, he was a dedicated public servant as Secretary of the California
State Senate from 1919 until his death; and
WHEREAS, he played an outstanding part in the development of this section
of Southern California, in which he made his home, and leaves as a permanent
memorial his achievements in both civic and business fields; and
WHEREAS, throughout his fill and active life he was always willing and
ready to help his fellow man, and won deserved honor and esteem as one of the
best known and beloved residents of the Harbor Area; and
WHEREAS, this City Council deems it fitting and proper that deserved
tribute be paid the memory of Joseph A. Beek for his long and distinguished
service to his Country, his State, and his fellow citizens;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Costa
Mesa, that this Council hereby unanimously expresses the regret of the City of
Costa Mesa in the loss of Joseph A. Beek, and extends its heartfelt sympathy to
his family; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Clerk of the City of Costa Mesa is
hereby directed to enter this resolution in the permanent records of the City
and transmit an executed copy thereof to the family of Mr. Beek.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 21st day of October, 1968.

adopted by the City Council of the City of Costa Mesa at a regular meeting
held on the 21st day of October, 1968.
