RESOLUTION NO. 70-74
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COSTA MESA,
CALIFORNIA, URGING THE TOURNAMENT OF ROSES COMMITTEE TO
ALLOW THE OUTSTANDING BAND FROM NEWPORT HARBOR HIGH SCHOOL
TO BE A PARTICIPANT IN THE 1971 TOURNAMENT OF ROSES.
WHEREAS, the Newport Harbor High School Band has made application
to participate in the 1971 Tournament of Roses; and
WHEREAS, the Newport Harbor High School Band is composed of a group
of outstanding young marching musicians; and
WHEREAS, the Newport Harbor High School Band has given freely of its
time and talent for civic and other events throughout Southern California;
and
WHEREAS, the Newport Harbor High School Band has wrought great honor
not only upon themselves and their school, but also upon the Newport Mesa
Unified School District and the cities of Newport Beach and Costa Mesa;
and
WHEREAS, It is the announced policy of the City of Costa Mesa to give
all possible support to constructive youth activities;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of
Costa Mesa urges the Tournament of Roses Committee to allow the Outstanding
Band from Newport Harbor High School to be a participant in the 1971 Tourn-
ament of Roses.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 17th day of August, 1970.
