HomeMy WebLinkAbout70-111 - Requesting Placentia Avenue Inclusion in Arterial Highway Financing Program300 RESOLUTION NO. 70-111 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COSTA MESA, CALIFORNIA, REQUESTING THE COUNTY OF ORANGE TO INCLUDE WITHIN THE ARTERIAL HIGHWAY FINANCING PROGRAM THE DEVELOPMENT OF PLACENTIA AVENUE. WHEREAS, the City of Costa Mesa desires to improve Placentia Avenue from 19th Street to 330 feet plus or minus south of 16th Street; and WHEREAS, Placentia Avenue is an important artery in the County of Orange of general County interest; and WHEREAS, Article 2 and Article 3, Chapter 9, Division 2 of the Streets and Highways Code authorizes a County, if it so desires, to expend funds apportioned to it out of the California Highways Users Tax Fund for aid to any City in the improvement, construction or repair of a street within a City; and WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors intends to, by appropriate action, provide in the County budget of the Special Road Improvement Fund for the Fiscal Year 1971-1972 a sum of money for the improvement of streets within the incorporated cities of the County in accordance with the Orange County Arterial Highway Financing Program. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Costa Mesa hereby requests the Board of Supervisors of the County of Orange to allocate to said City from County Funds the amount of $40,000.00, said amount to be matched by funds from said City, to be used to aid said City in the improvements of Placentia Avenue from 19th Street to 300 feet plus or minus south of 16th Street; said improvements to be in accordance with the attached project statement; BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of the County of Orange is hereby requested to find that said work on Placentia Avenue, in the manner provided, is in the general County interest. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that by this resolution, the City of Costa Mesa agrees with the basic concepts of the Arterial Highway Financing Program; and further agrees that its share of the cost of improvements will be available for the fiscal year 1971-1972.
