A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF COSTA MESA, CALIFORNIA, COMMENDING
THE ORANGE COAST COLLEGE FORENSIC TEAM FOR THEIR OUTSTANDING
PERFORMANCE.
WHEREAS, the Orange Coast College Forensic Team, under the direction
of Miss Barbara Burgess, has shown outstanding performance once again; and
WHEREAS, the team's record for the past year is as follows:
First place, Riverside City Fall Champs, Riverside; first place, Western
States Champs, Portland; first place, Pacific Southwest Fall Champs; first
place Governor's Cup Invitational, Sacramento; first place, Riverside City
Spring Champs, Riverside; first place, Pacific Southwestern Conference
Spring Debate Champs; first place, University of Arizona Desert Invitational
at Yuma; first place, Spring Debate Champs, Fullerton; first place, Individual
Events Champs, San Diego; and second place, State Champs, Santa Rosa; and
WHEREAS, they have also accomplished many victories in sweepstakes
such as: Matador Invitational, Yuma, Arizona; Mountain States Classic,
Phoenix, Arizona; Cal State Long Beach National Invitational; University of
Arizona Desert Invitational; Cerritos Oral Interp Festival; University of
Southern California -Loyola Invitational; and
WHEREAS, all of the above mentioned victories have led to the Orange
Coast College Forensic Team being invited to compete in the National Junior
College Forensic Championships to be held in St. Louis on April 12 through
17, 1971.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that this City Council deems it only
fitting and proper that the Orange Coast College Forensic Team be commended
and congratulated for such outstanding achievement; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Orange Coast College Forensic Team be
and are hereby offered this City Council's best wishes for great success
while competing for the National Junior College Forensic Championships in
St. Louis on April 12 through 17, 1971; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a copy of this resolution be entered in
the permanent records of the City and that a certified copy be transmitted
to Miss Barbara Burgess and facsimile xerox copies be transmitted to each
team member.
PASSED AMD ADOPTED this 5th day of April, 1971.
