HomeMy WebLinkAbout71-43 - Howard Gardner on Retirement from League of California CitiesRESOLUTION NO. 71-43 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COSTA MESA, CALIFORNIA, EXTENDING BEST WISHES TO HOWARD GARDNER ON THE OCCASION OF HIS RETIREMENT FROM ACTIVE SERVICE AS ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR, LEAGUE OF CALIFORNIA CITIES. WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Costa Mesa, hereby acknowledges , the outstanding service rendered to the League of California Cities, and all members of this fine organization, by Howard Gardner, Associate Director of the League of California Cities, who is retiring from full time service with the League; and WHEREAS, during the time he has been associated with the League of California Cities, first as Field Representative, from 1936-1941; then as Assistant Director, 1941-1954; and Associate Director from 1954 to the present time, he has performed his duties in a highly admirable fashion; and WHEREAS, his special activities include: Secretary -Manager to the American Executive Committee of the Japan -American Conference of Mayors and Chamber of Commerce Presidents; former Western Regional Vice President, Civic Committee, People -to -People Program (Sister Cities); former Member, Board of Trustees, National League of Cities; Member, California Council on Criminal Justice, 1969 to the present time serving as Chairman, Education and Training Task Force, 1969-1970; Chairman, Corrections Task Force, 1970 to the present time; and Member, Executive Committee, 1970 to the present time; Executive Secretary, Alameda County Mayors' Conference, 1970 to the present time; and his affiliation with the League of California Cities has been a very rewarding experience for all who are associated with the League; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Costa Mesa, does hereby extend its congratulations and best wishes to Howard Gardner, Associate Director of the League of California Cities on the occasion of his retirement from active service with the League; and the City Clerk is directed to enter this resolution into the permanent records of the City of Costa Mesa, and to forward an executed copy of this resolution to Mr. Howard Gardner.
