HomeMy WebLinkAbout72-85 - Commending Kim Attlesey - 1972 Olympic Women's Long JumpRESOLUTION NO. 72-85 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COSTA MESA, CALIFORNIA, EXTENDING SPECIAL COMMENDATION TO KIM ATTLESEY FOR OUTSTANDING PERFORMANCE IN ATTAINING MEMBERSHIP AND QUALIFICATION FOR THE 1972 OLYMPIC WOMEN'S LONG JUMP. WHEREAS, Kim Attlesey, 19 -year-old Corona del Mar High School graduate and resident of Costa Mesa, did compete in the long jump in the Women's United States Olympic track and field trials at Frederick, Maryland; and WHEREAS, she did qualify for the U. S. Team competing in Munich, Germany, at the 20th Olympic Games; and WHEREAS, Kim Attlesey did also surpass the Olympic qualifying standard of 20 feet 8 inches, thus gaining the right to compete in the 1972 Olympic long jump; NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COSTA MESA, that special commendation is hereby extended to Kim Attlesey in recognition of her excellent athletic performance and outstanding representation of our community. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this City Council wishes Kim Attlesey the best of luck in achieving a winning performance at the 1972 Olympic Games.
