HomeMy WebLinkAbout73-20 - Commending Beverly Carey - Bicentennial CommitteeRESOLUTION NO. 73--20 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COSTA MESA COMMENDING BEVERLY CAREY FOR HER VITAL INTEREST IN THE COSTA MESA BICENTENNIAL COMMITTEE, AND FOR HER CONCENTRATED INTEREST AND EFFORT IN THE ORGANIZATION OF THE COMMITTEE, AND THE ESTABLISHMENT OF ITS GOALS. THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COSTA MESA DOES HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: THAT, WHEREAS, heretofore the Honorable Mayor of the City of Costa Mesa with the concurrence of the City Council of the City of Costa Mesa in recog- nition of the forthcoming Bicentennial Birthday of the United States of America, suggested the organization of the committee for the celebration of this birthday in the City of Costa Mesa; and WHEREAS, said committee was duly formed of leading citizens within the community for the purpose of establishing goals and objectives and methods and means of celebrating the Bicentennial birthday of the United States of America; and WHEREAS, said Beverly Carey took an active leadership role in the organization and administration of said committee; and WHEREAS, said Beverly Carey for personal reasons of health, finds it necessary to curtail her activities in connection with the Costa Mesa Bicen- tennial Committee; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Costa Mesa will feel keenly the loss of Beverly Carey in the functions she so capably undertook. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED as follows: THAT, Beverly Carey be recognized by the City Council for her conscientious and energetic interest in the formation of the Bicentennial Committee for the City of Costa Mesa. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that said Beverly Carey be further commended by this City Council for her enthusiastic and imaginative work in the production of the goals and objectives of the Costa Mesa Bicentennial Committee. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the resignation of Beverly Carey for personal health reasons from the leadership of the Costa Mesa Bicentennial Committee will be vitally felt by the City Council and the citizens of the community; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that said Beverly Carey be commended for her unselfish and patriotic interest in the goals and objectives of the Costa Mesa Bicentennial Committee in the celebration of the forthcoming 200th birthday of the United States of America. BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that a certified copy of this Resolution be pre- sented to Beverly Carey for her personal files and that the original hereof be placed in the permanent archives of the City of Costa Mesa.
