RESOLUTION NO. 73-101
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COSTA MESA
COMMENDING THE COSTA MESA MEMORIAL HOSPITAL ON ITS FIFTH
BIRTHDAY FOR ITS HUMANITARIAN SERVICE TO THE CITY OF COSTA
MESA, AND THE SURROUNDING COMMUNITIES, AND EXTENDING THE
CITY OF COSTA MESA'S WISHES FOR CONTINUED SUCCESS.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COSTA MESA DOES HEREBY RESOLVE AS
FOLLOWS:
THAT WHEREAS, in September of 1968 the Costa Mesa Memorial Hospital
opened its doors for the humanitarian service to the City of Costa Mesa
and to the surrounding communities; and
WHEREAS, said hospital was designed and constructed and is operated
to provide a modern comprehensive health care center, with the most ad-
vanced medical equipment available for the citizens of this community; and
WHEREAS, Costa Mesa Memorial Hospital is recognized as one of the
outstanding general hospitals in Orange County, and has received recognition
for its philosophies and accomplishments and its leadership in the health
care field; and
WHEREAS, the Costa Mesa Memorial Hospital has utilized advanced
technical equipment and specialized professional care on an individual basis
for each of its patients; and
WHEREAS, the Costa Mesa Memorial Hospital has recognized its responsi-
bility and obligation to the community in its consciousness of community
involvement as an intrinsic part of its operation; and
WHEREAS, the Costa Mesa Memorial Hospital has expended maximum effort
to provide the high standards of patient care at the most reasonable costs
possible; and
WHEREAS, members of the medical staff, Women's Auxiliary, Candy -
stripers and the hospital staff have achieved a common goal in providing
superior patient care; and
WHEREAS, the Costa Mesa Memorial Hospital has exercised the highest
standards in membership requirements of its medical staff; and
WHEREAS, community participation through the hospital's auxiliary and
the Candy -stripers has enriched the lives of patients and contributed vastly
to the convalescent climate of the patients at the hospital; and
WHEREAS, because of increased demands of the superior patient care,
construction of additional medical facilities have been undertaken, to aug-
ment the already superior facilities available to the citizens of the
community;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of
Costa Mesa hereby heartily congratulates and commends the Costa Mesa Memorial
Hospital, its only general hospital for five years of community service;
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Costa Mesa Memorial Hospital be com-
mended for its humanitarian care of almost fifteen thousand (15,000) patients
in its five years of existence;
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Costa Mesa
extends its best wishes to the Costa Mesa Memorial Hospital for its continued
humanitarian medical service to the people of the City of Costa Mesa and the
surrounding communities;
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that Costa Mesa's only general hospital be
encouraged to continue the high level of professional medical care it has
exhibited in the first five years of its existence;
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that an executed copy of this Resolution be
presented to the. Executive Staff of the Costa Mesa Memorial Hospital;
BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution duly executed,
be made a part of the permanent records of the City of Costa Mesa.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 17th day of September, 1973.
