HomeMy WebLinkAbout72-66 - Urging Board of Supervisors to name "Ted Craig Regional Park"RESOLUTION NO. 72-66 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COSTA MESA, CALIFORNIA, URGING THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF THE COUNTY OF ORANGE TO NAME THE PARK SITE TO BE OPENED IN THE FULLERTON DAM AREA THE "TED CRAIG REGIONAL PARK." WHEREAS, Ted Craig served faithfully as a Councilman in the City of Brea from 1928 - 1932; and he was selected by his fellow Councilmen to serve as Mayor; and WHEREAS, he served in the Assembly of the State of California as a representative of the people of the County of Orange; and in 1935 he was selected as one of the youngest men to hold the office of Speaker of the Assembly; and WHEREAS, in 1965 he was appointed Legislative Advocate for the County of Orange and has ably represented the interests of Orange County in Sacramento since that time; and WHEREAS, it has been suggested by the Cities of Placentia and Brea that the Regional Park located immediately south of Imperial Highway be named the "Ted Craig Regional Park" in recognition of Mr. Craig's illustrious career and record of achievement; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Costa Mesa City Council does hereby urge the Board of Supervisors of the County of Orange to name the regional park to be opened at the Regional Park site, south of Imperial Highway, the "Ted Craig Regional Park." AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that copies of this resolution be forwarded to the City Councils of each of the cities of Orange County with a request that they join the City and the Cities of Placentia and Brea in their effort to honor Mr. Craig by naming the regional park at the site of the Fullerton Dam "Ted Craig Regional Park."
