A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COSTA MESA,
CALIFORNIA, ESTABLISHING TRAFFIC MOVEMENTS, CONTROLS, SIGNS
AND MARKINGS IN THE INTERSECTION OF 17TH STREET AND NEWPORT
BOULEVARD.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COSTA MESA DOES HEREBY RESOLVE
AS FOLLOWS:
WHEREAS, under Chapter III, Article 4, Division V, the City Council
is authorized to establish restrictions on turns and to create signaling
and controls therefor; and
WHEREAS, the Traffic Commission of the City of Costa Mesa has
recommended certain restrictions at the intersection of 17th Street and
Newport Boulevard; and
WHEREAS, this Council deems it in the best interest of the City that
said restrictions be imposed;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of
Costa Mesa that the following traffic movements, controls, signs and
markings be established in the intersection of 17th Street and Newport
Boulevard:
(1) Prohibit westbound left turns from 17th Street to
Newport Boulevard;
(2) Use the left westbound lane of 17th Street as an
optional right turn lane;
(3) Provide a double left turn for eastbound Superior
Avenue;
(4) Build a median on 17th Street for approximately 100
feet east of Newport Boulevard;
(5) Widen 17th Street at Fullerton Avenue to permit the
installation of a left turn lane for eastbound traffic
at that point.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 5th day of September, 1972.
