RESOLUTION NO. 72-95
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COSTA MESA,
CALIFORNIA, EXTENDING SPECIAL COMMENDATION TO CAPTAIN
ROBERT VAN SICKLE OF THE COSTA MESA FIRE DEPARTMENT FOR
OUTSTANDING PERFORMANCE IN THE 1972 FIREMAN'S OLYMPICS.
WHEREAS, Captain Robert Van Sickle of the Costa Mesa Fire Department
did compete in the Fireman's Olympics sponsored by the San Francisco Fire
Department on August 8, 1972, through September 2, 1972; and
WHEREAS, he was the third place medalist in the one mile running
event with an outstanding time of 4 minutes, 42 seconds flat; and
WHEREAS, his performance in the one mile relay race led his team
to a second place finish;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Costa Mesa, that special commendation is hereby extended to Captain
Robert Van Sickle in recognition of his superior athletic performance
and outstanding representation of our Fire Department and community.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Clerk of the City of Costa Mesa
is hereby directed to enter this resolution in the permanent records of
the City and transmit certified copies thereof to Captain Van Sickle.
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 18th day of September, 1972.
