I, EILEEN P. PHINNEY, City Clerk of the City of Costa Mesa and
ex -officio Clerk of the City Council of the City of Costa Mesa, hereby
certify that the above and foregoing Resolution No. 72-122 was duly and
regularly passed and adopted by the City Council of the City of Costa Mesa
at a regular meeting thereof held on the 18th day of December, 1972.

RESOLUTION NO. 72-122
RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COSTA MESA
REQUESTING THE COUNTY OF ORANGE TO INCLUDE WITHIN THE
ARTERIAL HIGHWAY FINANCING PROGRAM THE DEVELOPMENT OF
BEAR STREET.
WHEREAS, the City of Costa Mesa desires to improve Bear Street from
the San Diego Freeway to 1,200 feet south of the San Diego Freeway; and
WHEREAS, Bear Street is an important artery in the County of Orange
of general County interest; and
WHEREAS, Article 2 and Article 3, Chapter 9, Division 2, of the
Streets and Highways Code authorizes a County, if it so desires, to expend
funds apportioned to it out of the California Highway Users Tax Fund for
aid to any City in the improvement, construction or repair of a street
within a City; and
WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors intends to, by appropriate action,
provide in the County budget of the Special Road Improvement Fund for the
Fiscal Year 1973-74, a sum of money for the improvement of streets within
the incorporated cities of the County in accordance with the Orange County
Arterial Highway Financing Program.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Costa Mesa
hereby requests the Board of Supervisors of the County of Orange to allocate
to said City from County Funds the amount of $35,000.00, said amount to be
matched by funds from said City, to be used to aid said City in the improve-
ments of Bear Street from San Diego Freeway to 1,200 feet south of the
San Diego Freeway; said improvements to be in accordance with the attached
project statement;
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Board of Supervisors of the County
of Orange is hereby requested to find that said work on Bear Street, in
the manner provided, is in the general County interest.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that by this resolution, the City of Costa Mesa
agrees with the basic concepts of the Arterial Highway Financing Program;
and further agrees that its share of the cost of improvements will be
available for the fiscal year 1973-74.
