HomeMy WebLinkAbout74-105 - Participation in Santa Ana River Flood Protection Agency156 RESOLUTION NO. 74-105 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COSTA MESA, CALIFORNIA, AUTHORIZING PARTICIPA- TION IN THE CREATION OF THE SANTA ANA RIVER FLOOD PROTECTION AGENCY. WHEREAS, the United States Army Corps of Engineers has identified the Santa Ana River as the greatest potential disaster area in the western half of the United States; and WHEREAS, the coastal plain of Orange County is the receiving area for the flood waters from a watershed more than 2,500 square miles of Southern California including several substantial mountain ranges; and WHEREAS, this City Council is extremely concerned and recognizes the necessity and effectiveness of presenting a position of unanimity in seeking Congressional authorization for a proposed Santa Ana River flood protection project; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the agreement providing for the establishment of the Santa Ana River Flood Protection Agency between the County of Orange, the Orange County Flood Control District, and those cities and other public agencies which subscribe to it is hereby approved; BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Mayor and City Clerk are authorized to execute the aforementioned agreement.
