HomeMy WebLinkAbout77-70 - Historical Symbol for Rutland County, VermontRESOLUTION NO. 77-70 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COSTA MESA, CALIFORNIA, APPROVING THE HISTORICAL SYMBOL FROM THE CITY OF COSTA MESA TO BE PLACED IN THE LARGE STONE MAP TO BE CONSTRUCTED IN RUTLAND COUNTY, VERMONT. WHEREAS, Rutland County, Vermont, Costa Mesa's Bicentennial sister city, is planning to construct a large stone map of its State, with four stones to be set in the corners of the structure; one from New York, the second from Massachusetts, the third from New Hampshire, and the fourth to represent the Western United States, California, and Costa Mesa; and WHEREAS, a portion of a metate, which is an old Indian grinding stone unearthed in Costa Mesa, has been donated from the Costa Mesa Historical Society's collection of artifacts to the City of Costa Mesa for presentation to Rutland County; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Costa Mesa that the historical symbol, a portion of a metate, is hereby approved for transmittal to Rutland County, Vermont, to represent the people of Costa Mesa, California, and the Western United States, in the large stone map to be constructed in Rutland County, Vermont.
