A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
COSTA MESA, CALIFORNIA, OPPOSING ASSEMBLY BILL
63, SEEKING TO ABOLISH THE PRACTICE OF LICENSING
LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTS.
WHEREAS, Assembly Bill 63 seeks to abolish the regulation of the
practice of licensing landscape architects by the California State Board
of Landscape Architects; and
WHEREAS, the State is justified in setting and enforcing qualifi-
cation standards in the process of licensing landscape architects, in
order to ensure high professionalism of the industry that accounts for
millions of consumer and taxpayer dollars annually in California; and
WHEREAS, de -regulating landscape architects would put additional
burdens and costs on many agencies that currently recognize the State's
leadership in setting minimum standards;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Costa Mesa that the passage of Assembly Bill 63 is hereby opposed and
the City Clerk of the City of Costa Mesa is directed to send copies of
this Resolution to Senators Dennis E. Carpenter and James E. Whetmore,
and Assemblymen Dennis Mangers and Ronald Cordova.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 22nd day of February, 1977.
