HomeMy WebLinkAbout77-40 - Appreciation to Henry Panian - BicentennialRESOLUTION NO. 77-40 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COSTA MESA, CALIFORNIA, IN APPRECIATION TO PRO- FESSOR HENRY PANIAN FOR HIS PART IN THE CITY OF COSTA MESA'S PARTICIPATION IN OUR NATION'S BI- CENTENNIAL CELEBRATION. WHEREAS, Henry Panian, Professor of History at Orange Coast College, Costa Mesa, has recently returned from an extended trip over- seas with stops made in Paris, France, and Dorset County, England; and WHEREAS, in observance of the Bicentennial of our Nation and on behalf of the City of Costa Mesa, Mr. Panian presented a wreath of flowers that were laid in ceremony on the tomb of the Marquis de La- fayette in appreciation to the French people for their aid during the American Revolution; and WHEREAS, in Dorset County, England, a bench made of Purbeck stone was built in Durlston Country Park and presented to the Dorset County Council in celebration of the Bicentennial of the United States of America; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Costa Mesa that appreciation is hereby tendered to Professor Henry Panian for his part in playing Costa Mesa's goodwill emissary in bring- ing gifts to Paris, France, and Dorset County, England, in commemoration of our Nation's Bicentennial.
