A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
COSTA MESA, CALIFORNIA, REQUESTING THE COUNTY
OF ORANGE TO INCLUDE WITHIN THE ARTERIAL HIGHWAY
FINANCING PROGRAM THE DEVELOPMENT OF BAKER STREET.
WHEREAS, the City of Costa Mesa desires to improve Baker Street
from Bristol Street to 230 feet easterly, and from the Santa Ana -Delhi
Flood Control Channel to 244 feet easterly of Enterprise Street; and
WHEREAS, Baker Street is an important artery in the County of
Orange and of general County interest; and
WHEREAS, Article 2 and Article 3, Chapter 9, Division 2 of the
Streets and Highways Code authorizes a County, if it so desires, to
expend funds apportioned to it out of the California Highway Users Tax
Fund for aid to any city in the improvement, construction, or repair of
a street within a city; and
WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors intends to, by appropriate
action, provide in the County budget of the Special Road Improvement
Fund for the Fiscal Year 1978-79 a sum of money for the improvement of
streets within the incorporated cities of the County in accordance with
the Orange County Arterial Highway Financing Program;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of
Costa Mesa hereby requests the Board of Supervisors of the County of
Orange to allocate to said City from County funds the amount of
$40,000.00, said amount to be matched by funds from said City, to be
used to aid said City in the improvement of Baker Street from Bristol
Street to 230 feet easterly, and from the Santa Ana -Delhi Flood Control
Channel to 244 feet easterly of Enterprise Street, and for the acquisi-
tion of necessary rights-of-way; said improvements and acquisition of
rights-of-way to be in accordance with the attached project statement.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of the County
of Orange is hereby requested to find that said work and acquisition of
rights-of-way on Baker Street, in the manner provided, is in the general
County interest.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that by this Resolution, the City of Costa
Mesa agrees with the basic concepts of the Arterial Highway Financing
Program; and further agrees that its share of the cost of improvements
and rights-of-way will be available for the Fiscal Year 1978-79.
