HomeMy WebLinkAbout78-24 - Application for Bicycle Funds, Re-affirming Bicycle PlanRESOLUTION NO. 78-24 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COSTA MESA, CALIFORNIA, APPROVING THE APPLICA- TION FOR BICYCLE FUNDS AUTHORIZED UNDER SENATE BILL 821 AND REAFFIRMING THE ADOPTION OF ITS BICYCLE PLAN. THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COSTA MESA DOES HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: THAT, WHEREAS, Senate Bill 821 provides that two percent (2%) of each county's total Local Transportation Fund be annually set aside and used to fund the development of bicycle and pedestrian facilities; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Costa Mesa has planned a bikeway system in conformance with specifications of the California Highway Design Manual and the Regional Transportation Plan; and WHEREAS, said City Council adopted by Resolution No. 67-105 on October 2, 1967, a system of bicycle trails, and thereafter amended said system by the adoption of the Master Plan of Bikeways by Resolution No. 74-77 on October 1, 1974; and WHEREAS, the City of Costa Mesa desires to continue the construc- tion of the Master Bikeway System within the City, utilizing the funds available under Senate Bill 821; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Costa Mesa does hereby resolve as follows: 1. To reaffirm the adoption of the Bikeway System in conformance with the specifications of the California Highway Design Manual and the Regional Transportation Plan; 2. To authorize the Traffic Engineer as the City's authorized signature and designated contact person; 3. To apply for all funds available to the City of Costa Mesa allocated for Bikeways and Pedestrian facilities (Senate Bill 821). PASSED AND ADOPTED this 21st day of February, 1978.
