RESOLUTION NO. 83-61
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
COSTA MESA, CALIFORNIA, AFFECTING TRUCK TRAFFIC
ON A PORTION OF ROYAL PALM DRIVE.
WHEREAS, commercial vehicles and heavy vehicles travel on Royal Palm
Drive south of Baker Street; arra
WHEREAS, Royal Palm Drive south of Baker Street is a residential
street and not suitable for unnecessary travel by commercial vehicles or
heavy vehicles; and
WHEREAS, the Costa Mesa Traffic Commission has recamnended prohibition
of canmercial and heavy vehicle through travel on Royal Palm Drive south of
Baker Street; and
WHEREAS, it is necessary to declare portions of Royal Palm Drive,
Lemon Street, and Elm Avenue near Adams Avenue as Truck Routes in order to
prevent use of Royal Palm Drive south of Baker Street by camercial and
heavy vehicles serving nearby destinations; arra
WHEREAS, pursuant to California Vehicle Code Section 35701 and Costa
Mesa Municipal Code Section 10-248, the City Council may regulate canner-
cial vehicle and heavy vehicle traffic on streets;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Costa Mesa that Royal Palm Drive is hereby designated as a Truck Route
fran Adams Avenue to Elm Avenue, that Elm Avenue is designated as a Truck
Route frau Harbor Boulevard to Royal Palm Drive, and that Lemon Street is
designated as a Truck Route frau Elm Avenue to Ponderosa Street.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that Royal Palm Drive frcxn Baker Street to Elm
Avenue is hereby prohibited to commercial vehicles and vehicles exceeding
a maximum gross weight of three (3) tons, pursuant to the provisions of
Costa Mesa Municipal Code Section 10-248.
BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that this Resolution shall not take effect
until the City Traffic Engineer posts signs giving notice and direction on.
