RESOLUTICN NO. 83-111
A RESOLUTICN OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
COSTA MESA, CALIFORNIA, ADOPTING GENERAL PLAN
AMENDMENT GP -83-3B, AMENDING THE MASTER PLAN OF
BIKEWAYS.
WHEREAS, the General Plan was adopted by the City Council of the City
of Costa Mesa by Resolution No. 81-67 on July 20, 1981; and
WHEREAS, the General Plan is a long-range, comprehensive document
which serves as a guide for the orderly development of Costa Mesa; arra
WHEREAS, by its very nature, the General Plan needs to be updated and
refined to account for current and future caimunity needs; and
WHEREAS, General Plan Amendment GP -83-3B, an application to amend the
Master Plan of Bikeways, has been recommended for approval by the Planning
Commission; and
WHEREAS, a public hearing was duly held on November 21, 1983, in
accordance with Section 65355 of the Government Code of the State of
California, all persons having been given the opportunity to be heard both
for and against said Amendment GP -83-3B to the General Plan; and
WHEREAS, this Council deems it to be in the best interest of the City
that said Amendment to the General Plan be adopted;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Costa Mesa that the General Plan is hereby amended by the adoption of
General Plan Amendment GP -83-3B by amending the Master Plan of Bikeways in
the following manner:
Realign the existing bike trail alignments in the Fairview area;
Add existing bike lanes along Santa Ana Avenue between 20th and 23rd
Streets, and Wilson Street between Fairview Road and Harbor Boulevard;
Add bike trail alignments along Anton Boulevard from the Avenue of the
Arts to Sunflower Avenue and along Sakioka Drive;
Realign the adopted bike lane alignment at the Baker Street/Bear
Street intersection;
Add the existing bike trail which extends frau the western terminous
of Sunflower Avenue to the Santa Ana River bike trail.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that based upon the results of the initial
study prepared for the subject Amendment in canpliance with the California
Environmental Quality Act, a Negative Declaration has been prepared for
said Amendment and is hereby adopted.
