HomeMy WebLinkAbout84-86 - Fund Transfer to Orange County for Bicycle Bridge over Santa Ana RiverRESOLUTION NO. 84-86 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COSTA MESA, CALIFORNIA, REQUESTING THE TRANSFER OF 1984-85 LOCALLY APPORTIONED BICYCLE AND PED- ESTRIAN FUNDS UNDER SB 821 TO THE COUNTY OF ORANGE, FOR PARTICIPATION IN CONSTRUCTION OF A BICYCLE/PEDESTRIAN BRIDGE OVER THE SANTA ANA RIVER IN THE VICINITY OF FAIRVIEW REGIONAL PARK. WHEREAS, Senate Bill 821 provides that two percent (2%) of each county's total Local Transportation Fund be annually set aside and used to fund the develorment of bicycle and pedestrian facilities; and WHEREAS, the City of Costa Mesa has planned a bikeway system in conformance with specifications of the California Highway Design Manual and the Regional Transportation Plan; and WHEREAS, the County of Orange proposes to construct a bicycle/ pedestrian bridge over the Santa Ana River in the vicinity of Fairview Regional Park; and WHEREAS, the City of Costa Mesa wishes to participate in construction costs; and WHEREAS, Senate Bill 821 would allot $22,013.00 to the City of Costa Mesa for construction of bicycle and pedestrian facilities; NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Costa Mesa does hereby resolve that locally apportioned SB 821 funds to Costa Mesa for 1984-85 be offered to Orange County for construction of a bicycle/pedestrian bridge in the vicinity of Fairview Regional Park, pending regional SB 821 funding of that project. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Costa Mesa that if the Santa Ana River bicycle/pedestrian bridge is not funded in 1984-85 under the regional program, that this application be withdrawn and a new application for use of locally apportioned funds be prepared.
