HomeMy WebLinkAbout85-65 - Adopting GP-85-2ARESOLUTION NO. 85-65 A RESOLUTION OF CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COSTA MESA, CALIFORNIA, ADOPTING GENERAL PLAN AMENDMENT GP -85-2A, TO AMEND THE MASTER PLAN OF BIKEWAYS. WHEREAS, the General Plan was adopted by the City Council of the City of Costa Mesa by resolution No. 81-67 on July 20, 1981; and WHEREAS, the General Plan is a long-range, comprehensive document which serves as a guide for the orderly development of Costa Mesa; and WHEREAS, by its very nature, the General Plan needs to be updated and refined to account for current and future community needs; and WHEREAS, General Plan Amendment GP -85-2A, an application to amend the Master Plan of Bikeways, has been recannended for approval by the Costa Mesa Planning Cc mission; and WHEREAS, a public hearing was duly held on July 1, 1985, in accordance with Section 65355 of the Government Code of the State of California, all persons having been given the opportunity to be heard both for and against said amendment to the General Plan; and WHEREAS, this Council deems it to be in the best interest of the City that said amendment to the General Plan be adopted; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Costa Mesa that the General Plan is hereby amended by the adoption of General Plan Amendment GP -85-2A by amending the Master Plan of Bikeways in the following manner: Malign the bike lane on 19th Street between Orange Avenue and Whittier Avenue to Wast 18th Street/Rochester Street with connection to be made via Orange avenue and Whittier Avenue. Delete the bike lane along the formerly adopted Route 55 Freeway align- ment frcm Victoria Street to the south City limits. Add minor changes to the bike trail in the Fairview Regional Park vicinity to connect the bike trail to the bicycle/pedestrian bridge over the Santa Ana River. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that based upon the findings of an Initial Study prepared in campliance with the California Environmental Quality Act, a Negative Declaration of Environmental Impact has been prepared and is hereby adopted.
