HomeMy WebLinkAbout86-98 - Setting Salaries for Traffic CommissionersRESOLUTION NO. 86-98 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COSTA MESA, CALIFORNIA, SETTING THE SALARIES OF THE TRAFFIC COMMISSIONERS AND PROVIDING FOR CERTAIN ALLOWANCES AND LIMITATIONS IN CONNECTION WITH THEIR COMPENSATION. THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COSTA MESA DOES HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: WHEREAS, the growth of our City through development and increase in population has put a greater burden of work on the Traffic Commission; and WHEREAS, the conscientious application of each Commissioner towards his job has in some cases caused Commissioners to take valuable time from their businesses for the purpose of serving the City of Costa Mesa; and WHEREAS, it is the desire of the City Council to express its apprecia- tion for the devotion of each Commissioner to the safety and movement of persons and goods throughout the City; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the compensation to be paid to each Commissioner shall be $30.00 per meeting. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the compensation paid to each Commissioner shall not exceed $60.00 per calendar month. Any payments for additional meetings are to be approved by the City Council. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that if any Commissioner shall be absent and shall not attend the meeting, compensation shall not be paid for that meeting with the following exceptions: 1. Where attendance has been excused by a Commissioner's attendance at any conference held during the time of a regularly scheduled Traffic Commission meeting, providing said attendance has been authorized or directed by the City of Costa Mesa. 2. Any other absence providing said Commissioner attends an equiva- lent special meeting or study session during the pay period when the absence occurred. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that extra attendance may not be banked against future absences nor may credit be given for attendance in a previous pay period against absences in any current pay period. A pay period shall be defined as a calendar month. BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the aforementioned pay rate is effective July 1, 1986.
