Home My WebLink About87-21 - Weed Abatement, Public Hearing Set to Hear ProtestsRESOLUTION NO. 87-21 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COSTA MESA, CALIFORNIA, DETER4INING AND DECLARING THAT RUB- BISH AND WEEDS ARE A PUBLIC NUISANCE; DIRECTING THE FIRE CHIEF OR HIS DESIGNEE '10 REMOVE SAID RUBBISH AND DESTROY SAID WEEDS AS REQUIRED BY LAW; FIXING THE TIME FOR HEARING ALL OBJECTIONS OR PROTESTS; AND DIRECTING THE ABATEMENT OF SAID RUBBISH AND WEEDS. THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COSTA MESA DOES HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: WHEREAS, it has cane to the attention of the City Council of the City of Costa Mesa that certain rubbish exists and weeds more particularly described below are growing upon certain streets, sidewalks, parkways, and private property in the City of Costa Mesa, and that the same are a public nuisance; arra WiEREAS, it appears to the City Council of the City of Costa Mesa that said rubbish and weeds should be abated as a public nuisance in accordance with the provisions of Title 8, Chapter IV, Article 2, Costa Mesa Municipal Code; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED AS FOLLOWS: That pursuant to the provisions of the aforesaid sections of the Costa Mesa Municipal Code, the City Council of the City of Costa Mesa does hereby determine and declare that rubbish exists and weeds which bear seeds of a downy or wingy nature, and weeds which attain such large growth as to beccne a fire nuisance when dry, and weeds which are otherwise noxious or dangerous, are growing upon certain streets, sidewalks, parkways, and private property in said City as mre particularly described hereinafter, and that the same are hereby declared to be a public nuisance, and that the property fronting upon said streets, sidewalks, or parkways, or in front of which such nuisance exists, are hereinafter described in accordance with an Assessor Parcel number list used in describing the property for taxation purposes, attached hereto and made a part hereof. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Fire Chief or his designee is hereby designated as the person or persons to give notice to remove such rubbish and destroy said weeds, said notice to be in accordance with the terms of Section 8-111 of Costa Mesa Municipal Code. BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the City Council does hereby fix the 18th day of May, 1987, at the hour of 6:30 p.m., or as soon thereafter as practicable, as the time, and the Council Chambers of City Hall, 77 Fair Drive, Costa Mesa, California, as the place, for hearing objections and protests to the proposed removal of such rubbish and weeds.
