The International Conference of Building Officials, along with the other two model code organizations, support this activity. For several years, this organization his published Evaluation Report No. HER-108, covering the procedures by which ADA rates products used for roof sheathing, wall sheathing, subflooring, single-layer flooring, and more recently, siding. In November 1986, several proposed amendments to the existing report were submitted to the secretariat for NES, which was the Building Officials and Code ( Administrators International (BOCA) . These amendments include one of particular interest to designers of panelized roofs (also referred to as the Berkeley system) . In this system, panels are installed with their long dimension parallel to framing, typically spaced 24 inches o.c. Panelized roof panel end Joints are supported by framing, which results in excellent shear capacity for roof diaphragms. One of the amendments to NER-108 provides for an alternate Structural I Rating which may be applied to any panel that qualifies through performance tests related to this end use.
