Box 1200 Costa Mesa, Califomia 92628-1200 Dear Mr. Petros: A few weeks ago we discussed by telephone the possibility of extending the time allowed for completing the construction on two permits at the above address. This letter is an attempt to provide the explanation you requested conceming any time extension. Permit 602-00488: Items left for inspection: Final mechanical, final plumbing and final occupancy from building and planning. This is a permit for an adddion to the detached garage building. It is a separate structure from the residence. As of early this summer, my wife and I are in a divorce proceeding. This began near what should have been near the end of the construdion of this addition. In this legal proceeding most monetary funds are frozen when the initial papers are served. I delayed writing this letter because I hoped that a recent court date would shed new light on the availability of funds to complete the projecl- unfortunately most of the case has been continued again and there is no resolution yet. To complete the inspections above will require additional plumbing and mechanical work, shower tile work, countertops and railings for an approximate total cost of $20,000. I cannot be certain but the portion of the divorce proceeding pertaining to allowing release of money to complete this work should be resolved in the next one to two months (lawyers seem to have a way extending things uncontrollably). Additionally, the contrador I have been using for much of this work is out of the country for most of this month. I also know that, with the holiday's approaching, it will be di�cult to get work done in a timely manner. Accordingly I would like to request a six moMh extension on this pennit, although I woulq be grateful for any allowance of time. Pertnit B00-00325: Items left for inspeclion: Final occupancy/building. This was the original residence remodeling permit. As the pertnit numbers indicate the addition as described above was begun after the residence received final approval. Since the plumbing and electrical systems are now part of the residence system (same water heater, same electrical main panel), these items had to be completed forthe addition before the residence could receive a final inspeclion. The final eledrical inspeclion for the addition and house were completed the same day: May 23, 2003 (until recently I had not noticed that Randy entered an incorred date of 5/23/02 on the 800-00325 inspection card). This is soon before the aforementioned divorce proceedings hatl begun. No additional work should be required so the final irtspection for this permit can be completed now. In order to not waste the inspector's time I was scheduling inspections for each permil on the same day. As it became Gear that was not going to be possible I was attempting to get the final for the residence permit (B00-0035) by itself when I was infortned that a time limit had been placed on the completion of the inspections for each permit. Had I known any time constraint beyond that of six months from the last inspection existed, I would have contaded you and/or your o�ce immediately. In no way am I trying circumvent lhe building depa�tmeni requirements or to avoid completion of these projects. A very unfortunate combination of events have occurred that is restricling completion at this time. Any time extension accommodation that you can make would be greatly appreciated.
