A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COSTA MESA,
CALIFORNIA, AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF GRANT FUNDS FROM THE
DEPARTMENT OF HOMELAND (DHS) SECURITY FEDERAL EMERGENCY
MANAGEMENT AGENCY (FEMA) HAZARD MITIGATION GRANT PROGRAM
(HMGP)
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COSTA MESA DOES HEREBY
RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
WHEREAS, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Federal Emergency
Management Agency (FEMA) has made funds available through the Hazard Mitigation
Grant Program (HMGP) for the development or update of local hazard mitigation plans
(LHMP); and
and
WHEREAS, Costa Mesa does not have a LHMP, and desires to develop a LHMP;
WHEREAS, the total cost to develop the City's LHMP is estimated to be
$199,987.00; and
WHEREAS, FEMA has obligated $149,990.25 in HMGP funds to assist the City
with the development of its LHMP.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Costa
Mesa that the City Council approves the acceptance of Hazard Mitigation Grant Program
funds for the development of its local hazard mitigation plan and authorizes the
Emergency Services Administrator to implement this authorization and the Hazard
Mitigation Grant Program requirements and objectives.
