Gentlemen :
This letter presents the results of density testing performed in
the building pad for the above referenced project .
•
On May 30 , 1973 , when a representative of CAL-WEST ENGINEERING
CONSULTANTS reported to the site , the contractor had cleared
the site of all weeds , and other deleterious material . The natural
surface was scarified 6 to 8 inches , moisture conditioned , and
• • properly recompacted . Fill material which consisted of native
silty sand obtained from the backyard areas was used to bring
the building pads to finish grade . Fill was placed in maximum
6-inch loose lifts , moisture conditioned , and properly compacted .
Import material was placed in the backyard area .

Compaction , which was obtained by mechanical means only, was
accomplished with the aid of a Ford Tractor , D-8 Dozer , and
a water truck . The grading operation was completed on May 31 , 1973.
In-place density tests were performed in accordance with UBC
Standard 70-1 =70 , and the results compared with the maximum
dry density optimum moisture content determinations as accomplished
in accordance with UBC Standard 70-2-70 . Test results are shown
on the enclosed "Table of Test Results . " Test locations are
indicated on the attached plot plan .
Results of the density tests indicate that the reworked and fill
materials have been compacted to a minimum of 90 percent compaction .
