RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends that the City Council make one appointment to the Planning
Commission, District 3, term expiring January, 2023.
BACKGROUND:
Ms. Carla Navarro Woods resigned from the Planning Commission, District 3, on
September 24, 2019. A recruitment was held September 26th through October 3rd. Two
qualified applications were received (Attachment 1).

2. Byron de Arakal
ANALYSIS:
Two applicants have submitted applications for appointment to the Planning
Commission, District 3. Both of the applicants meet the qualification requirements.
ALTERNATIVES CONSIDERED:
The City Council could choose to not proceed with the appointment to the Planning
Commission and the seat would remain unfilled.
FISCAL REVIEW:
Planning Commissioners receive $400.00 monthly. The stipends for these positions is
included in the FY 19/20 Adopted Budget.

LEGAL REVIEW:
City Attorney has reviewed this report and has approved it as to form.
CITY COUNCIL GOALS AND PRIORITIES:
This item is administrative in nature.
CONCLUSION:
Staff recommends that the City Council make one appointment to the Planning
Commission, District 3, term expiring January, 2023.
