A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COSTA MESA,
CALIFORNIA, CONSENTING TO THE COUNTY OF ORANGE DECLARING THE
HAMILTON AVENUE/VICTORIA STREET BRIDGE AND APPROACHING
ROADWAYS AS A COUNTY HIGHWAY FOR PURPOSES OF MAINTENANCE BY
THE COUNTY OF ORANGE
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COSTA MESA, CALIFORNIA DOES
HEREBY FIND AND DECLARE AS FOLLOWS:
WHEREAS, those portions of the Hamilton Avenue/Victoria Street from the bridge
over the Santa Ana River and the Greenville Banning Channel, including the east portion
of the bridge, to 100' east of the bridge, lying with the City of Costa Mesa have been
deemed to be highways of County -wide importance; and
WHEREAS, the City of Costa Mesa and the County of Orange propose to perform
certain maintenance work on the Hamilton Avenue/Victoria Street Bridge and
approaching roadways, hereinafter referred to as "City's Streets"; and
WHEREAS, the City of Costa Mesa and the County of Orange have entered into
Agreement No. MA-080-22010220 to define the responsibilities of the City and the County
with respect to performing the work on the City's Streets; and
WHEREAS, Streets & Highways Code Sections 1700-1704 set forth procedures
by which the County may perform maintenance work on the City's Streets; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Streets & Highways Code Section 1700, on October 5,
2021, the County of Orange Board of Supervisors adopted Resolution No. 21-111,
declaring City's Streets to be a County highway for the purposes of maintenance by the
County of Orange; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Streets & Highways Code Section 1701, the City Council's
consent is required prior to the City's Streets becoming a County highway.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Costa
Mesa that the City Council hereby consents to the County of Orange declaring the City's
Streets to be a County highway for the purposes of maintenance by the County of Orange.
