RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends the City Council cancel the regular meeting of Tuesday, July 6, 2021.
BACKGROUND:
The City conducts regularly scheduled City Council meetings on the first and third
Tuesday of the month. This year, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the City Council has
held frequent meetings while considering a multitude of issues, under circumstances
that are unprecedented. Additionally, the July 6th meeting follows the July 4th holiday
weekend celebration and attendance at the meeting during a holiday week tends to
decline. Moreover, cancelling the July 6th meeting would allow City Council members
and staff an opportunity to schedule planned time off adjoining the holiday week-end as
many were canceled due to the pandemic.
ANALYSIS:
The City Council has the legal authority to establish meeting dates and times and to cancel
or reschedule such meetings with proper public notice. Cancelling the July 6th meeting in
June is well in advance for proper noticing and allows staff enough time to place items on
the July 20th or August 3rd agenda. If the July 6th meeting is canceled there will be one
meeting held on July 20th, one City Council meeting held on August 3rd, and the regularly
scheduled meetings will resume in September.

FISCAL REVIEW:
The Finance Department has reviewed and verified there is no fiscal impact.
LEGAL REVIEW:
The City Attorney’s Office has reviewed the report and approved as to form.
CITY COUNCIL GOALS & PRIORITIES:
This item is administrative in nature.
CONCLUSION:
Staff recommends that the City Council cancel the regular meeting of Tuesday, July 6,
2021.
