A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
COSTA MESA, CALIFORNIA, AMENDING THE
RESIDENTIAL DESIGN GUIDELINES.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COSTA MESA DOES HEREBY RESOLVE
AS FOLLOWS:
WHEREAS, the City Council adopted Resolution No. 01-29 on May 7, 2001,
adopting Residential Design Guidelines; and
WHEREAS, the City Council requested the addition of another guideline that
addresses maximum building height limitations for residential structures with pitched -
roof designs and for residential structures with flat -roof designs;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Costa Mesa City Council does
hereby amend the Residential Design Guidelines as described in attached Exhibit "A".
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the amendment shall become effective upon
second reading of Ordinance No. 01-16.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 18th day of June, 2001.

EXHIBIT A
Section III. Roof Forms of the City of Costa Mesa Residential Design Guidelines is
hereby amended to include the following subsection:
12.1 The maximum building height of 27 feet, as specified in the Zoning Code,
will only be allowed for structures with sloped -roof designs. Structures
proposed to have a flat -roof, for either the entire structure or a portion
thereof, shall be designed to be consistent with the bulk and scale of the
structures in the surrounding neighborhood, and the overall height of the
portion of the structure where the flat roof is proposed shall not exceed 22
feet."
