HomeMy WebLinkAbout01-63 - Rehabilitation of Bike Trail on Newport Blvd between Arlington and FairRESOLUTION NO. 61— �, 3 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COSTA MESA, CALIFORNIA, CERTIFYING THE AVAILABILITY OF THE REQUIRED TEN PERCENT LOCAL SHARE OF THE TOTAL PROJECT COST FOR THE REHABILITATION OF THE BIKE TRAIL ON NEWPORT BOULEVARD BETWEEN ARLINGTON DRIVE AND FAIR DRIVE, AND ADOPTION OF THE ORANGE COUNTY TRANSPORTATION AUTHORITY (OCTA) COMMUTER BIKEWAYS STRATEGIC PLAN FOR THE CITY OF COSTA MESA. THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COSTA MESA DOES HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: WHEREAS, the Bicycle Transportation Account (BTA) Program is funded and administered by the State of California Department of Transportation; and WHEREAS, the BTA Program provides $7.2 million for fiscal year 2001-02 to local agencies for projects that improve safety and convenience for bicycle commuters; and WHEREAS, the program requires local agencies to fund at least 10 percent of the project cost; and WHEREAS, the BTA program requires a comprehensive bicycle plan that addresses current and future bicycle transportation needs; and WHEREAS, the Orange County Transportation Authority adopted the Commuter Bikeways Strategic Plan (CBSP) that incorporated all comments from the City of Costa Mesa on August 27, 2001; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Costa Mesa, California, does hereby certify: 1. The availability of the required 10 percent local share of the total project cost for rehabilitation of the bike trail on Newport Boulevard between Arlington Drive and Fair Drive; and 2. The City Council's adoption of the Orange County Transportation Authority's CBSP for the City of Costa Mesa. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the rehabilitation project will conform to the minimum design standards for bikeways in Chapter 1000 of the CALTRANS Highway Design Manual.
