Southwest Solar Corporation is a California corporation dedicated to the production ot the finest
solar water heating systems which the state-of-the-art solar technology allows.
7he heart of our domestic water heating system is the SOLAR DISC•1000 series coltector panel.
The panel has a(lat-plate all-copper element, compatible with closed-loop heat exchange systems
as well as potabte water open-loop systems. The absorber element is fuse-bonded and inflated by
Olin Corporation's Roll-Bond process, creatinq one piece of copper without seams or welds and
with unusual structural integrity.
The heat absorbing surface is a selectively coated black chrome finish over a nickel flashing to
give 95% absorbtivity and 10°/a emmisivity at 150°F. Glazing is achieved by a single plate of 3/16"
tempered crystai glass.
Insulation is 1%." U-Foam 2200 closed-cell rigid board covered on both sides with bonded glass
fiber sheets impregnated with asphalt.
Rubber extrusions of E.P.D.M. 75 Duro hold the absorber plate, glazing and �Silica Gel desicant in
suspension within aluminum extrusions of 6063T5 alloy, anodized clear 0.4 mit. Mechanical inter-
connection of panels is accomplished by interlocking lips on the panet sides. Fastening to the roof is
facilitated by hinged extrusions allowing collectors to be elevated to the optimum angle without the
use of a separate structure.
Fastening of the collector box is achieved by #400 stainless steel svews received by aluminum
:'f screw troughs.

The criticai component in an efficient Solar water
heating system is a properly insulated storage tank.
Bradford-White's Solar Saver products have been
designed with fuelsaver foam insulation, an ultra
dense polyurethane insulating material. Fuelsaver
foam provides for an R factor of 72 on the 65 and 80
gallon modets and an R factor of 16 on tho 120 gallon
modet.
Solar Saver products aro avallable as insulatad
storage tanks or as electric models equipped with a
4500 watt heating element and automatic thermostat
where a back-up system is desired. �`
Solar Saver products feature four top connections
with insulated nipples (no dielectric fittings are
necessary!); side mounted T 8 P valve opening,-pre-
wired sensor lead, special thermal feet, and fuelsaver
foam insulation.
Solar Saver products are designed fof maximum
efficiency and minimum installation costs.
