Dear Dr. and Mrs. Jensen:
Because of the difficulties we have experienced in trying to get
in contact, I decided it might help to write you a quick letter and
update you with what's happening with your property at 610 and 618
Hamilton Street. Evidently, when your building permits were
released for the conversion of two of the back apartment units into
four units (as approved under Development Review DR-88-35), a
"special requirements" stamp was not placed on the City's copy of
the permit. Consequently, the utilities were released for the new
units without first checking with the Planning Division (who in
turn checks with the Engineering Division and Fire Department) to
make sure that all the conditions of approval of DR-88-35 were
complied with. When it came to my attention that the utilities had
been released without the special requirements check, I went ahead
with the normal procedure (checking with these two other
departments/divisions and doing a field check) to see if any
special requirements were still pending. Only the Fire Department
had a pending requirement. Their inspection of the site revealed
that fire extinguishers, with a minimum rating of 2AlOBC,.need to
be provided. Please call David Hollister at .754-5128 about this
requirement and to help resolve this issue. I understand that you
proceeded in good faith, completing the Building Division portion
of the permit per their requirements. I apologize that this
occurred and look forward to your continued good will to finish up
the project so that it is in complete compliance with the
conditions of approval and the ordinance requirements of the
Development Review.
