A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COSTA
MESA, CALIFORNIA, EXTENDING THE DEADLINE FOR OVERHEAD
UTILITY REMOVAL IN UNDERGROUND UTILITY DISTRICT NO. 21, ON
PLACENTIA AVENUE FROM 18TH STREET TO 20TH STREET AND ON
19TH STREET FROM ANAHEIM AVENUE TO MONROVIA AVENUE.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COSTA MESA DOES HEREBY
RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Costa Mesa previously passed
Resolution 00-83, establishing Underground Utility District No. 21, on Placentia Avenue
from 18th Street to 20th Street and on 19th Street from Anaheim Avenue to Monrovia
Avenue (the "District");
WHEREAS, a map delineating the boundaries of the District is marked Exhibit
"A" and is hereby incorporated as part of this Resolution;
WHEREAS, the City Council ordered the removal of all poles, overhead wires,
and associated overhead structures, and underground installation of wires and facilities
for supplying electrical, communication, or similar or associated service within the
District by January 30, 2003; and
WHEREAS, due to unforeseen delays, the contractor will not be able to remove
all poles, overhead wires, and associated overhead structures, and underground
installation of wires and facilities for supplying electrical, communication, or similar or
associated service within the District by January 30, 2003.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Costa
Mesa that the deadline for the removal of all poles, overhead wires, and associated
overhead structures, and underground installation of wires and facilities for supplying
electrical, communication, or similar or associated service within the District be
extended to December 31, 2003.
BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the City Clerk is hereby instructed to notify all
affected utilities and all persons owning real property within the District of the adoption
of this Resolution within ten (10) days after the date of adoption. Said City Clerk shall
further notify said property owners of the necessity that, if they or any person occupying
such property desires to continue to receive electric, communication, or other similar or
associated service, they or such occupant shall, during the date fixed in Resolution No.
00-83 and this Resolution, cooperate with City officials and utility contractors in order to
give appropriate access to undertake the undergrounding and provide all necessary
facility changes on their premises so as to receive such from the lines of the supplying
utility or utilities at a new location, subject to applicable rules, regulations, and tariffs of
the respective utility or utilities on file with the Public Utilities Commission of the State of
California. Such notification shall be made by mailing a copy of this Resolution,
together with a copy of Title 15, Chapter VII, Sections 15-150 through 15-166 of the
Costa Mesa Municipal Code, to all affected property owners as such are shown on the
last equalized assessment roll and to the affected utilities.

STATE OF CALIFORNIA, DESCRIBED AS FOLLOWS:
PARCEL ONE:
A STRIP OF LAND 200.00 FEET WIDE, LYING 100.00 FEET ON EACH SIDE OF THE
FOLLOWING DESCRIBED CENTERLINE: BEGINNING AT THE CENTERLINE
INTERSECTION OF 19TH STREET AND MONROVIA AVENUE (POB) AS SHOWN ON
NEWPORT MESA TRACT RECORDED IN BOOK 5, PAGE 1 OF MISCELLANEOUS MAPS
IN THE OFFICE OF THE COUNTY RECORDER OF SAID COUNTY; THENCE EASTERLY
ALONG SAID CENTERLINE OF 19TH STREET TO THE CENTERLINE INTERSECTION
OF 19TH STREET AND ANAHEIM AVENUE BEING THE END OF THE CENTERLINE OF
PARCEL ONE; SIDELINES OF SAID STRIP ARE LENGTHENED OR SHORTENED AS
NEEDED TO TERMINATE ON THE CENTERLINES OF MONROVIA AVENUE AND

NEWPORT MESA TRACT; THENCE NORTHERLY ALONG SAID CENTERLINE OF
PLACENTIA AVENUE TO THE CENTERLINE INTERSECTION OF PLACENTIA AVENUE
AND 20TH STREET AS SHOWN ON TRACT NO. 612 RECORDED IN BOOK 20, PAGE 1
OF MISCELLANEOUS MAPS IN THE OFFICE OF THE COUNTY RECORDER OF SAID
COUNTY, SAID CENTERLINE INTERSECTION BEING THE END OF THE CENTERLINE
OF PARCEL TWO; SIDELINES OF SAID STRIP ARE LENGTHENED OR SHORTENED AS
