HomeMy WebLinkAbout05-13 - Concerning Permanent Cancellation of Last Meeting in December for Planning CommissionRESOLUTION NO. 05-13 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COSTA MESA, CALIFORNIA, CONCERNING THE PERMANENT CANCELLATION OF THE LAST MEETING IN DECEMBER FOR THE PLANNING COMMISSION. THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COSTA MESA HEREBY RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS: WHEREAS, the City Council has recently permanently cancelled the Council meetings on the third Tuesday of December due to the various holidays during that time and the resulting decrease in the opportunity for public participation due to said holidays; and WHEREAS, the City Council has determined that the Planning Commission should also permanently cancel its meeting at the end of December to ensure full public participation in all aspects of City Business; and WHEREAS, Section 13-10(h) of Title 13 of the Costa Mesa Municipal Code provides for the Planning Commission to establish Bylaws by which its sets the dates and times for its meetings; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Planning Commission is hereby directed to amend its Bylaws to reflect a permanent cancellation of any Planning Commission study session on the third Monday in December and its regular meeting on the fourth Monday in December. Nothing herein shall be construed to preclude the Planning Commission from scheduling a special meeting in the second half of December should it be necessary to meet any legal deadline imposed pursuant to the Subdivision Map Act, the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), or the Permit Streamlining Act. BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that this resolution shall take effect and be in full force immediately after its adoption by the City Council. PASSED AND ADOPTED this 5"' day of April, 2005.
