HomeMy WebLinkAbout05-49 - Dissolving the Human Relations CommitteeRESOLUTION NO. 05-49 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COSTA MESA, CALIFORNIA, DISSOLVING THE HUMAN RELATIONS COMMITTEE. THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COSTA MESA HEREBY RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS: WHEREAS, on August 3, 1987, by minute order, the City Council of the City of Costa Mesa established the Human Relations Committee to assist in addressing issues referred by the Day Workers Task Force Subcommittee; and WHEREAS, since its formation, the Human Relations Committee has pursued Council's direction to encourage the education about and communication between the various cultures existing in Costa Mesa, and has from time to time made recommendations to Council regarding matters within the scope of their expertise; and WHEREAS, the City Council took action at its meeting of June 21, 2005 in adopting the FY 2005-06 Annual Budget to delete funding in support of the Human Relations Committee; and WHEREAS, because the Committee has fulfilled its purpose and the service of its members is no longer required, the City Council wishes to thank and dismiss the members of the Human Relations Committee, past and present, and terminate the existence of the Human Relations Committee. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the members of the Human Relations Committee, having fulfilled their responsibilities as directed by the City Council, are hereby thanked for their service and dismissed from membership of the Human Relations Committee. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that there being no further need for the continuance of said committee, that the Human Relations Committee is hereby abolished and dissolved and will no longer continue in existence. BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that this resolution shall take effect and be in full force immediately after its adoption by the City Council. PASSED AND ADOPTED this 1 g'" day of July, 2005.
