HomeMy WebLinkAbout77-23 Order of Business on AgendaORDINANCE NO. 77-a 3 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COSTA MESA AMENDING §2-48 OF THE COSTA MESA MUNICIPAL CODE CHANGING THE ORDER OF BUSINESS ON THE AGENDA OF THE CITY COUNCIL FOR REGULAR CITY COUNCIL MEETINGS AND SETTING FORTH REASONS THEREFOR. THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COSTA MESA DOES HEREBY ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1: The City Council of the City of Costa Mesa finds and declares that it has tried a change of order of business on its agenda on an experimental basis for two (2) Council meetings; The City Council further finds and declares that as a result of the change of order of business a more efficient meeting resulted with less inconvenience to the public, the Council and the. -Staff; The City Council further finds and declares that the continued efficiency and good order of government in the conduct of the people's business require a permanent change in the order of business as conducted before the City Council at its regular meetings. Accordingly, §2-48 entitled "Order of Business" being a part of Title 2, Chapter III of the Costa Mesa Municipal Code is hereby amended to read as follows: "§2-48 ORDER OF BUSINESS (a) The business of the.Co.uncil shall be taken up for consideration and disposition in the following order: (1) Pledge of Allegiance to flag. (2) Invocation. (3) Roll call and call to order. (4) Approval of minutes of previous meeting. (5) Special presentations. (6) Consent Calendar. (7) Old business. (8) Warrants. (9) City Attorney's Report. -1- (10) City,Manager's report (11) Public hearings. (12) New business. (13) Oral communications. (14) Councilmanic comments and suggestions. (15) Adjournment... (b). The presiding officer or a majority of'the Council may change the order of business at any time during.the . meeting; however, business will be considered in the order shown above, unless modified.as provided for in this section." SECTION 3: This ordinance shall take.'effect and'be in full force- and effecty thirty (30) days from and after its passage, .and before the expiration of fifteen (15) days after its passage, shall be published once.in the Orange Coast Daily Pilot, a newspaper of general circulation printed and.published in the City of Costa Mesa, together with the names of the members.of the City'Council voting for and against the same.
