AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
COSTA MESA AMENDING TITLE 13 OF THE COSTA MESA
MUNICIPAL CODE AMENDING THE PERMITTED USES AND
DEVELOPMENT STANDARDS FOR THE MG AND MP INDUS-
TRIAL DISTRICTS.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COSTA MESA DOES HEREBY ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1: The City Council of the City of Costa Mesa hereby finds and
declares as follows:
1. That increasing pressures and demands are being made on the use of land
throughout the community.
2. That the pressures and demands require more flexibility than is provided
by the existing provisions of the Costa Mesa Municipal Code for industrial
developments.
3. That these amendments are necessary and proper to accomplish the purpose
and intent of regulating the permitted uses of industrial developments for
the general health, safety, and welfare of the public.
Accordingly, the City Council of the City of Costa Mesa herewith amends Title
13 of the Costa Mesa Municipal Code by adding and amending Sections as hereinafter
set forth:
SECTION 2:
Chapter II - Zoning
Article 3 - General Industrial (MG) zone
Add Section 13-417.1 (a) (71) Automotive Repair Shop (not within 200 feet of a
residential zone).
Amend Section 13-417.1 - General Industrial Uses
(c) Conditional uses:
1. Mini- and public -warehousing.
2. Eating places.
3. Welding repair.
4. Outdoor storage - As an appurtenant or incidental use.
5. Recording studios.
6. Automotive repair shop (within 200 feet of a residential zone.)
7. Additional uses not provided for as a permitted or accessory use may be
considered for approval as a conditional use.
Article 4 - Industrial Park (MP) zone
Amend Section 13-418.1 Industrial Park Uses
Add (c) Conditional uses:
4. Recording studios.
5. Public warehousing.
6. Additional uses not provided for as a permitted or accessory use may be
considered for approval as a conditional use.
Article 6 - Development Standards
Add Section 13-420 (i) (9). The maximum height of any building or structure
shall be two (2) stories not to exceed thirty (30) feet except as approved by a
Conditional Use Permit.
SECTION 3: This Ordinance shall take effect and be in full force and effect
thirty (30) days from and after its passage, and before the expiration of fifteen
(15) days after its passage, shall be published once in the Orange Coast Daily
Pilot, a newspaper of general circulation printed and published in the City of
Costa Mesa, together with the names of the members of the City Council voting for
and against the same, or in the alternative, the City Clerk may cause the publica-

tion of a summary of the proposed ordinance and the posting of a certified copy of
its full text in the office of the City Clerk at least five (5) days prior to the
City Council meeting at which the proposed ordinance is to be adopted and within
fifteen (15) days after adoption the City Clerk shall cause the publication of the
summary of the adopted ordinance and the posting of a certified copy of the full
text, together with the vote for and against it, in the office of the City Clerk.
