MUNICIPAL CODE SECTION 2-189 CONCERNING SETTLE-
MENT OF CERTAIN CLAIMS.

dollars ($1,000.00).
2. The City is currently engaged in the process of hiring a risk
manager as an employee of the City. The duties of the risk manager will

manager, it is appropriate to authorize the risk manager, with the approval
of the City Attorney, to allow, compromise, or settle any claim for a sum
not to exceed one thousand dollars ($1,000.00).
lows:
ACCORDINGLY, the Costa Mesa Municipal Code is hereby amended as fol-
SECTION 2. Costa Mesa Municipal Code, Title 2, Chapter V, Article
III, Section 2-189(b), is hereby amended to read as follows:

the City Attorney, to allow, compromise, or settle any tort claim for a sum
no greater than one thousand dollars ($1,000.00)."
The foregoing amendment shall not alter, diminish, or terminate the
existing authority of the claims administrator under contract with the City
at the time this ordinance becomes effective, until the current contract
expires or is otherwise terminated.
SECTION 3. This Ordinance shall take effect and be in full force
thirty (30) days from and after the passage thereof, and prior to the
expiration of fifteen (15) days from its passage shall be published once in
the ORANGE COAST DAILY PILOT, a newspaper of general circulation, printed
and published in the City of Costa Mesa or, in the alternative, the City
