ROLL CALL
The City Council of the City of Costa Mesa met at a
regular meeting on July 6, 19539 at 7:30 P. M. at
116 East 18th Street, Costa Mesa, and ;mediately
thereafter adjourned to the Justice Court Building
on West 18th Street, Costa Mesa, California.
Present: Councilmen Martin, Miller, Nelson, Smith
and TeW inkle.
Absent: None
Officials
Present: Clerk Swartz, Treasurer Ries, City Attorney
Dungan.

SUPERVISORS
The minute order was read and ordered filed with' the
City Clerk, The City Clerk was requested to send a
letter of thanks to the. Board of Supervisors for
their generous offer.
ORAL
Mr. Henry L. Crane made an oral protest to the City
PROTESTS
Council regarding the appointment of Mr. W. C. Ries
as City Treasurer. Mr. Crane was advised that Mr.
Ries was appointed by full vote of the City Council.
Mr. Earl Trusheim of 1889 Park Avenue, Costa Mesa,
made an oral report'to the City Council that his
neighbor was running power saws in.such a manner'as
to prevent Mr. Trusheim from obtaining proper rest.
The Council pointed out that the area was zoned C-2.

ORDINANCE The City Clerk read Ordinance No. 8, relating to
NO. 8 "TAX PROCEDURE LAY111, and after full reading thereof,
TAX Councilman Smith moved the adoption of said Ordinance
PROCEDURE LAW No. 8, and Councilman Miller seconded the motion. It

PAYMENT OF COSTA PESA OF PREMIUNS FOR SURETY BONDS FOR OFFICERS
PREMIUMS FOR ARTD/0R CITY EMPLOYEES". - Councilman Nelson seconded the
SURETY BONDS motion and it was carried by the following vote:

Councilman Smith reported that.State Forest Ranger Joe

Scherman was without authority to enforce County Fire

Ordinance in the City of Costa Mesa and requested the

study of the adoption of the County Fire Ordinance by
the City Council.

Mr, Sewell informed the City Council that he was

ready to serve the City of Costa Mesa in any
capacity that it deemed adviseable.
MOTION TO
Councilman Martin moved the adjournment of the

meeting of the City Council to July 13. 1953 at
7:30 P. M, The motion was seconded by Council-
