HomeMy WebLinkAbout05/26/1958 - Adjourned City Council Meeting789 REGULAR ADJOURNED MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL CITY OF COSTA MESA May 26, 1958 The City Council of the City of Costa Mesa, California., met in regular adjourned session at 5:30 p.m., May 26, 1958, at the City Hall, 695 w. 19th St., Costa Mesa. The meeting was called to order by the Mayor followed by the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag and invocation by Mayor John Smith r ROLL CALL Councilmen Present: B.Smith, Pinkley, Meyers, J.Smith Councilmen Absent: Rea Officials Present: Chief Deputy City Clerk, City Manager, Asst. City Manager, City Attorney, City Engineer, Director of Finance , W R 145, Warrant Resolution No. W R 1145, was presented for approval. On motion b Councilman Pink seconded b y ley, onde y Councilman Meyers, WR No. 145 was adopted by the following roll call vote: AYES: Councilmen B.Smith, Pinkley, Meyers, J.Smith . NOES:; Councilmen - None ABSENT: Councilman Rea ' RESOLUTION N0. 481 The City Manager recommended the employmentof a Police Woman, at the Police Woman same salary rate as a Patrolman. After discussion Resolution No. 481, being A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COSTA MESA, CALIFORNIA, AMEM MG RESOLUTION NO. 390 was presented. On motion= by Councilman B.Smith, seconded. by Councilman Pinkley, Resoluticn No. 481 was adopted by the following roll call vote: AYES: Councilmen B.Smith, Pinkley, Meyers, J.Smith NOES: Councilmen - Nonett ABSENT: Councilman Rea :Street Lighting The City Manager stated that a decision should be made on whether or E. 17th St. Imp. Inst. not to install.metal poles on E. 17th Street for street lighting. (Councilman Pinkley left the meeting at this point.) After discussion it was moved by Councilman B.Smith, seconded by Councilman -Meyers that the City Manager be authorized to study the lighting in the East 17th Street Improvement District and to enter into an agreement with the Edison Company for the installation of metal poles for traffic safety purposes. Motion carried by the follow- ing roll call vote: AYES:, Councilmen B.Smith, Meyensl; &;;Smith; NOES: Councilmen - None ABSENT: Councilman Rea and Pinkley RESOLUTION NO. 180 Resolution No. 4801 being a RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY Condemnation of Property OF COSTA MESA, CALIFORNIA, FINDING, DETERMINING AND T1EG:T,ARING THAT THE E. 17th St. Imp. Dist. PUBLIC INTEREST AND NWESSITY REQUIRE THE ACQUISITION OF A CERTAIN STREET FASEMENT AND RIGHT OF 'TAY FOR PUBLIC 'STREET PURPOSES; AND AUTHOR- IZING ACQUISITION OF SAID EASEMENT AND RIGHT OF WAY BY CONDEMNATION, AND DIRECTING THE CITY ATTORNEY TO PROCEED WITH SUCH ACTION, was pre- sented. On motion by Councilman B.Smith, seconded by Councilman Meyers, Resolution No. 480 was adopted by the following roll call vote: AYES: Councilmen B. Smith, Meyers, J.Smith NOES:: Councilmen - None ABSENT:, Councilmen Rea and Pinkley Rights of Way The City Attorney informed the Council that because of.certain con - Improvement Dis- ditions that would be caused by the Improvement District, severance trct No. 4 damages would have to be paid to certain property owners in the No. 4 Improvement District -in restoring their driveways to a useable con- dition. It was moved by Councilman B.Smith., seconded by Councilman Meyers, that the.Right of Way department be authorized to enter into agreements with the less than 10 property owners involved in the amount not to exceed $50.00 per unit. The motion carried by the following roll call vote: AYES: Councilmen B.Smith, Meyers, J.Smith NOES: Councilmen - None ABSENT: Councilmen Rea and Pinkley E_ 17th St. Imp. hist. After discussion it was moved by Councilman B.Smith9 seconded by Removal of certain ob- Councilman Meyers, and carried that the City Manager be authorized structions to negotiate a contract for removal of certain obstructions in the right of way incidental to the improvement of the streets in the E. 17th St. Imp.
