CITY OF COSTA MESA
October 15, 1962
The City Council of the City of Costa Mesa, California,
met in regular session at 7:30 p.m., October 15, 1962,
at the City Hall, 695 West 19th Street, Costa Mesa. The
meeting was called to order by the Mayor followed'by the
Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag and invocation by
Reverend James Safstrom of Evangelical Free Church.

October 8, 1962 Wilson, and carried, the minutes of the adjourned regular
meeting of October 8, 1962, were approved as written and
previously distributed.
Upon motion by Councilman Wilson, seconded by Councilman
Smith, and carried, second reading of Ordinance 62-38,

Proposed abandon- The proposed abandonment of existing 12 -foot alley, initiated

Conditional Use Conditional Use Permit C-121 for Humble Oil and Refining
Permit C-121 Company, Box 7033, Long Beach 7, California, for permission
Humble Oil Company to construct and operate a service station in a C-2 zone on
the northwesterly corner of Randolph and Bristol was
presented together with the recommendation of the Planning
Commission for approval subject to the following conditions:
1. Street cuts on Bristol and Randolph to be under the
direction of the City Engineer; 2. Commercial sidewalks
with concrete driveway approaches to be installed at owner's
expense, the full frontage of the property on Randolph
Avenue and Bristol Street, under the direction of the City
Engineer; 3. That the application be granted approval by
the California Division of Highways before Building permits
are issued. Upon motion by Councilman Wilson, seconded by
Councilman Smith, and -carried, Conditional Use Permit C-121
was approved subject to the conditions of the Planning
Commission.

Costa Mesa; 4. That the applicant follow approximately the

Upon motion by Councilman Tomchak, seconded by Councilman
Smith, and carried, Conditional Use Permit C-124 was
approved subject to the recommendation of the Planning
Commission.

Americo Ferraro Box 242-C, Chino, California, to divide property at
2001-2005 Harbor Boulevard, Costa Mesa, into 2 parcels was
presented together with the recommendation of the Planning
Commission for approval subject to the following conditions:
1. That parcel B becomes an integral part of AP 115-301-38
(the southerly 99.38 feet of the northerly 198.74 feet of
the easterly one half of Lot 18, Fairview Farms Tract);
2. Dedication of all land 50 feet from the center line of
existing Harbor Boulevard to the City of Costa Mesa. Upon
motion by Councilman Wilson, seconded by Councilman Smith,

Permits - Chamber The Clerk read a communication from the Chamber of Commerce
of Commerce requesting permission for the installation of a banner over
Harbor Boulevard approximately one hundred feet north of
Adams Avenue to announce the forthcoming Orange County Open
Golf Tournament. Upon motion by Councilman Wilson, seconded
by Councilman Smith, and carried, the request was granted.
Mrs. J. B. Connor The Clerk read a communicationfrom.Mrs. J. B. Connor,
1654 Samar Place, Costa Mesa, for permission to block off
the dead-end street on October 27, 1962, to hold a neighbor-
hood party. Upon motion by Councilman Wilson, seconded by
Councilman Smith, and carried, permission was granted
subject to the approval of the Chief of Police.

and filed: Financial report for the period ending September 30,
1962; City Treasurer, for the month of September; Police Department;
Director of Finance, for free permits issued for September.
